What is my “why?” Many people have asked me- “why are you getting your masters?” Some think it is so I can teach older grades. I tell them that it could take me to other opportunities that might not happen without a masters (maybe a Technology Learning Coach or something else.) Really, I just love to learn! I love to collaborate with other teachers and see how they use things in their class. It has been wonderful to start this masters right before school starting, so I can start the school with all of these ideas that we have been reading and discussing about.
A couple of weeks ago, my principal asked me to do a technology training for the other teachers. As a teacher of the littles, I sometimes feel like I don't feel always comfortable in front of adults. But I did say yes and started to develop a plan to have the teachers "go to" stations for different things. So Thursday morning, we started the training (45 minutes late because the admin wanted to see the training.) I shared with the staff this DLL program that I was a part of and the term COVA. At the beginning, the teachers were not really moving, but they got to learn some different technology. I did a Google Form for the teachers to fill out and they liked exploring the different things. I know it helped that I allowed them to choose their stations and take ownership with their learning. I am passionate in learning technology, but I know that some are not, so giving the teachers options let them pick.

This past July, I started my masters at Lamar in Digital Learning and Leading. I have always been interested in pretty much anything technology and learning has been a high priority for me, too. What I have gotten these past five weeks is a chance to think about how I teach and how these concepts I am learning will allow the students will grow into a lifetime learner!
As I start the school year, I will remember that I might not get things "YET," but I am growing in all of my challenges and even mistakes that I make along the way. The DLL program has sparked other passions. I shared with my parents in my classroom that they were not only learning math and science, but also growth mindset.
Learning NetworksI love collaborating with teachers in my school and people who are not at my school. My first teaching job had at least five teachers per grade level, so we were able to "share our wealth." I have always loved to go to trainings in the summer and during the year and I have gotten ideas to bring into my classroom. There are face-to-face networks and then there also is networks where you can find on the internet.
All of the readings have made me think a lot about my students that I have had in the past and the ones that I will be getting in my class this coming year. I would like to get a couple of the students that teachers would call "struggling" and have a couple of growth mindset classes with them. I will have to ask my administrators about this. I plan on implementing in different aspects of growth mindset in my class this year.
